It all began with a pair of royal wedding earrings

Dulong was originally founded in 2000 by jeweler Marianne Dulong under her own name. In 2005, she opened the first flagship store in Silkegade in the heart of Copenhagen. 

A significant milestone in Dulong’s early history came in 2004, when Marianne Dulong was asked to design and craft the wedding earrings for Crown Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederik’s historic wedding. The earrings, made in white gold with diamonds and South Sea pearls, were a deeply honorable commission, completed by Marianne Dulong herself. Today, the earrings have become a symbol of the brand’s refined craftsmanship and timeless aesthetic.

One Drop - Ripples into the Future

The Cassiopeia Earrings are an anniversary creation of rare distinction. Reinterpreted in polished 18K gold, set with striking brilliant-cut diamonds and crowned by a 0.23 carat diamond to complete the enlarged drop silhouette with grace. Echoing earrings from past collections and the royal earrings, they embody Dulong’s vision for future timeless fine jewelry with international appeal.

The first years

From the very beginning, Dulong has been driven by a desire to create personal jewelry in precious materials, crafted with uncompromising attention to beauty and detail.

“In our first boutique, we designed the fitting room as a catwalk because it was important for us to see the jewelry in motion—interacting with the body and the light. A piece from Dulong should feel like a natural extension of yourself. It must be comfortable to wear, elegant in its expression, and in harmony with your own tones—bringing a glow to the skin and complementing the colors of your complexion and eyes. That’s why we often create the same designs in different sizes and with a variety of gemstones and pearls, allowing you to find the one piece that truly makes you shine.”

A defining encounter

The first years were driven by a desire to create personal jewelry in noble materials, brought to life through exceptional craftsmanship. Shortly after the founding of the brand, Marianne Dulong entered a close creative partnership with stylist Anja Camilla Alajdi. She became a co-founder of the company and remains a central force in the brand’s creative identity. With her sharp sense of style, silhouette, and proportion, Anja Camilla Alajdi has helped shape the distinctive Dulong aesthetic that runs through every collection. Each piece is designed and made in the Copenhagen workshop, blending understated elegance with noble materials, a strong sense of form, and a focus on fit and movement.

Kharisma – the birth of an icon

One of the most iconic collections in Dulong’s history is Kharisma, launched in the mid 2000s. It quickly became a signature design. Today, the Kharisma earring is available in four sizes, in both gold and silver, and with a wide selection of interchangeable pendants.

With its sculptural shape, tactile surface, and graceful movement, the Kharisma earring captures the essence of Dulong: timeless jewelry, thoughtful details, and uncompromising craftsmanship. Jewelry to be worn for generations. Kharisma was created to celebrate a woman’s natural charisma – an earring with a harmonious curve that moves beautifully and brings life and energy to the face.

The royal ruby set

In 2010, Dulong was entrusted with the honorable task of adjusting the royal ruby parure, originally created for Napoleon’s coronation in 1804 and worn by Désirée Bernadotte. The extraordinary set is crafted in precious metals with rubies and diamonds, shaped as leaves, stems, and red currants.

The ruby set, inherited by Crown Prince Frederik from Queen Ingrid, was to be carefully adapted to Crown Princess Mary’s way of wearing it. In addition, the Dulong workshop created new pieces for the parure, including hair ornaments with the same structure as the tiara, featuring currant leaves and berries, and a ring with a ruby surrounded by diamonds. The work was carried out with great humility and respect for the original, and in close collaboration with the Danish Royal Family. The process is documented in Nina Hald’s book Royal Rubies, which explores the history of the parure and Dulong’s honored role in transforming this iconic set.

A new store and a new era

In 2020, Dulong moved to Ny Østergade and opened a new boutique in the heart of Copenhagen’s fine jewelry district. The award-winning store is designed in collaboration with internationally acclaimed Norm Architects and features raw, honest materials that reflect Dulong’s Nordic roots and aesthetic. The boutique is not only a place to view exceptional jewelry, but a space to experience the world of Dulong.

In 2021, the Dulong boutique was featured on the world-renowned design magazine Dezeen’s top 10 list of the most beautiful retail stores in the world.

A special anniversary

In 2025, Dulong celebrates a twenty-year journey with a remarkable anniversary. To mark the occasion, Marianne Dulong and Anja Camilla Alajdi have created a limited edition collection of harmonious necklaces and bracelets with striking gemstones, pearls, diamonds with 18K gold.

Each piece is composed with care, and no two are exactly alike due to the natural variation in the stones and pearls. The collection reflects freedom, femininity, and the joy of creating jewelry that brings happiness across generations. The rare gemstones and radiant pearls are combined in spectacular and harmonious color compositions.
